Finally, all your favourite sports in one app! A fresh new look with familiar features and exciting additions. Here’s the big news!!
No more manually reconnecting to your devices, simply open the app and click on ‘follow today’s games’. You’re now shown the number of today’s scheduled games for the selected teams you’re following. Your device(s) will then light up when your team scores for that day.
No more remembering passwords! We let you log in using your favourite existing accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google and more. Once your account is created on your behalf, verify your age so you can register your devices, subscribe to sports and follow games.
Signing up for Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, or Yahoo is free, and an account can typically be created in a matter of minutes.
The application automatically scans for devices once you have logged in.
You will be taken to the device’s screen where all available Classic Red Lights V1, V2 & V3 and glasses found will be shown. Swipe through the devices found in the ‘My Devices’ section. Click on ‘connect’ for each device you’d like to connect.
Ensure your Bluetooth™ is turned on, batteries are installed, and for the best connection ensure your phone is within 30 feet of the device. If you are still having issues connecting, remove and reinstall the batteries.
Ensure your Bluetooth is turned on, batteries are installed, and your phone is within 30 feet of the device. The device can only connect with one app at a time, so ensure that no one else’s app is currently connected to your device. If you are still having issues connecting, remove and reinstall the batteries.
Your device should flash when you successfully connect it to the app for the first time. Within the Devices tab you have the option to Test each device once connected, which will make your device flash if successfully connected.
Each app currently supports up to 7 devices. If you have other accessories connected (headphones, fitness trackers etc) it may reduce the number of devices you can connect to.
Ensure Push Notifications are turned on within the app to allow your device to flash. Go to the Home section and tap on your profile picture in the top right of the screen. When the dialog box appears, tap Settings, then tap Notifications, and then tap Allow Notifications. Your notifications will now be turned on and allow the Budweiser Device to work. Also ensure you are following today’s game.
If you lose connection (for example, your phone and device are further than 30 feet apart), the app will automatically try to reconnect to your device. To ensure your device is still connected, go to the Devices tab and tap Test on one of your Devices, the device should light up for a few seconds. If you are unable to successfully test your device, please replace the batteries and reconnect using the same connection process.
Ensure you try to minimize the number of apps running in the background while you are using the Budweiser Sports App. Try to minimize using other apps that require a lot of memory (RAM) while you have your device connected.
After you have connected your devices, go to the Sports section and you will be prompted to choose your team. Extra teams can also be followed by tapping on the cog icon in the top right corner of the Sports screen. From there you can add or remove extra teams or change your team. (Note, the Budweiser Home Run Cup is only available to follow the Toronto Blue Jays. No other teams can be selected for the MLB season.)
Also, there is no more manually reconnecting to your devices, simply open the app and click on ‘follow today’s games’. You’re now shown the number of today’s scheduled games for the selected teams you’re following. Your device(s) will then light up when your team scores for that day.
The devices are configured to flash as soon as possible – sometimes this does not match the broadcasting you may be listening to or watching. To resolve the delay between a team’s score and the device flashing. Go to the Devices section of the app and click the small cog icon at the top right of the screen. You can then increase the delay by sliding the controller to the right. Each sport can have its own custom delay.
Your device may flash when no score is made for one of six reasons:
The app will not trigger your device if you have switched to low power mode. Apple’s operating system will suggest turning on low power mode if you have less than 30% battery remaining. Doing so will disable your celebration alerts and the device will no longer flash.
We have made it easy to follow all today’s games from the ‘Home’ screen. To follow individual games, select to the ‘Sports’ icon at the bottom of the screen. From here a schedule of all today’s games will be shown, allowing you to follow and unfollow individual games.
There are currently four versions of the Budweiser Red Light: V1, V2, V3 and V4
The easiest way to determine what version Budweiser Red Light you have is to look at the red test button on your light. If you have a volume -/+ button above the red test button you have a V2/V3/V4 Budweiser Red Light. Otherwise, you have a V1 Red Light.
If your Budweiser Red Light has a USB charging port, you have a V4 Red Light. The Red Light V4 has re-chargeable batteries, so please use the USB cord provided to recharge your batteries. The Red Light V4 should last for 1.5 weeks (depending on the number of goals your team scores!) before the batteries require recharging. For best results keep your Red Light V4 plugged into mains power.
The Budweiser Red Light will start lighting up again when the regular Hockey season officially begins in October. If you own a Goal Sync Glass or Home Run Glass, you can also connect your Budweiser Red Light to celebrate when your teams scores.
Yes. To get it to light up without sound, just turn the volume dial or button on the light down to its minimum. You can test the volume by pushing the red test button on the back of the device. Unfortunately, you can’t have it make sound without lighting up.
Check the volume control position. You can test the volume by pushing the red test button on the back. If your volume is full and you are still not getting sound, please contact the Budweiser Red Light Help Desk at 1-855-BUD-RED1.
No, you can turn your device off at any time. For Red Light V1, turn the volume dial all the way down until you feel it click. For newer versions, locate the On/Off switch on the bottom of the light.
Note: Your Budweiser Red Light needs to be on if you want to receive ‘five minutes to game time’ warnings and goal alerts. You can check that your device is on by pushing the red test button on the back.
If you do turn it off, then back on, the Budweiser Sports App will remember your WIFI network and will reconnect automatically.
Yes, this is a newly supported feature and will allow you to amplify the at-home experience with multiple Red lights.
2.4GHz WIFI router is required to connect your Red Light to the Internet. Your Red Light cannot join a WIFI network with a secondary level authentication. See “What is secondary level authentication?” and “What is a 2.4GHz network?” for more information.
Secondary level authentication is a ‘landing’ web page shown to a user before they gain more-broad access to URL or http-based Internet services. An example of this is when a user attempts to join a free WIFI network at the airport. Before gaining access, the user is redirected to a webpage which may require authentication, payment, acceptance of policies or other valid credentials.
WIFI routers most commonly run on a 2.4GHz frequency. Dual band routers also provide a supplementary 5GHz network. If using a dual band WIFI router, be sure to join your Red Light to the 2.4GHz network.
Before launching the Budweiser Sports App, set your smartphones screen brightness to maximum.
Your phone needs to be connected to the Internet.
You must enter your WIFI network and password correctly in the App. The WIFI network & password is case sensitive.
Make sure your smartphone’s screen is in direct contact with the light sensor (light) on the electric imp card (V1) or the < WIFI light for Red Light V2 & V3.
Note: The device will not connect to a network that requires secondary security such as a username and password entered in Internet Explorer.
Yes: to ensure your Red Light flashes when your team(s) score, you need to have your Red Light connected to WIFI.
In step 1 of 4 in the Budweiser Sports App (WIFI Settings), your network should automatically show up in the list of your phones’ WIFI if successfully connected to the desired network. You might still need to re-enter the network password, even if your phone is already connected to that network.
No. As we use your social media profile to sign you up for an account & this is our way of uniquely identifying you. It is recommended you only link your devices to your personal cell phone.
You will need to go through the set-up process in the Budweiser Sports App to connect your device to the new WIFI network.
Make sure you enter the right WIFI password when you are prompted in the app.
Note: The device will not connect to a network that requires both a username and password.
This could mean it’s time to replace the batteries in your device. The strength of the batteries diminishes over time, so after a while they might not have the power to run the unit for more than one or two seconds at a time.
If you hear a clicking noise when you manually attempt to trigger your light, it is time to replace your batteries.
The light on the electric imp card is coded to let you know what the electric imp card is doing.
If your electric imp card has a flashing red light, you are not connected to the WIFI network. In this case, you will not receive goal alerts and will need to connect your device to your WIFI network using the Budweiser Sports App.
If your electric imp card is flashing red and orange, that means your device is trying to connect to the WIFI network. While this is happening, you will not receive goal alerts.
If your electric imp card has a flashing green light, your device is connected to WIFI. In this case, you should be receiving goal alerts.
If your electric imp card has a solid green light, your Red Light Classic V1 is running a firmware upgrade. In this case, do not turn of your device off. Leave it for five minutes before attempting to reprogram your device by going through the setup.
If there is no indicator light on your electric imp card, it might mean your device is in power saving mode. There does not need to be a green light on the electric imp card for you to receive goal alerts but if you want to be sure you never miss a goal, remove the electric imp card fully from the device and reinsert it. If the light on your electric imp card flashes red, yellow and then green, your Budweiser Red Light should receive goal alerts.
Check to see if the light on the electric imp card is flashing green, to make sure your device hasn’t gone to sleep.
If the electric imp card isn’t flashing, then power the Budweiser Red Light off. Wait for 30 seconds and then turn the light on again. If this still doesn’t work, remove your electric imp card fully and reinsert it. You must sync your Red Light to your WIFI network. If you are still having difficulty, you can contact the Budweiser Red Light Desk at 1-855-BUD-RED1.

The app can be found by searching for ‘Budweiser Sports’.
You can select as many cities as you like from the list provided. If you sign up for all thirty cities, keep in mind that you will receive ‘five minutes to game time’ warnings for all the games you are subscribed to if you have selected the five-minute warnings option. You will also get a goal alert for every goal scored while your selected cities are playing.
You can do this by selecting the cities you wish to follow on the ‘Your Red Light’ screen on the App. Simply select the cities and you are now following that city. If you cannot select the city as it is greyed out in your App you will need to go through the setup process from the beginning using the Budweiser Sports App to add or change cities.

For Android devices, you need version 5 ("Lollipop") or above.
It shouldn’t, but we suggest you check with your service provider to understand what your plan covers.
This can occur when batteries of different types, brand or condition are mixed. Always use fresh new matching batteries when replacing old ones, this will assist in providing an accurate battery status on your Budweiser Sports App and the consistency of the batteries’ lifespan.
Unscrew the base from the device. Twist the plastic piece inside the base that holds the batteries counter clockwise. If necessary, gently shake the base to release the battery casing. Insert two AAA batteries into the battery casing of a glass, and four D batteries for a goal light. Reinsert the base casing into the base holder and turn clockwise to lock it in place. Screw the base back onto the device.
It depends on how active the device is during the season. If you are subscribed to all thirty cities, we expect your device to last a whole season. With a small number of cities selected, you should expect to get up to two seasons from your current batteries.
No, each device is suitable for hand washing only. Ensure you remove the base, then hand wash only.
